Kitchen Cabinets - Reface Tips

Are you getting tired of your old kitchen cabinets and wish to boost their looks without spending a fortune? If yes, then you need to know that you can make a few small changes that will definitely make a huge difference and make your cabinets really stand out. One of the better and cheapest options is to reface the old kitchen cabinets. This task is rather simple even though it sounds very complicated. When choosing to reface your old furniture you will learn that you will have a lot of options at your disposal. The results are often times amazing and nobody will be able to tell that you only spent $100 on this!

When starting to reface the old kitchen cabinets, you need to begin by taking off the doors using a drill. Be sure to check out the cabinets and apply plywood where needed. Plywood can be easily applied using glue. This step is very simple and you shouldn't encounter any trouble. After the exposed sides were fully covered you need to cover the stiles. Stiles are cabinet front sides if you didn't already know. These too are fairly easy to cover and you shouldn't run into any problems here either. Finally, you must take down the veneers since these will require changing.

After the veneer is pressed down you need to begin the cabinet refacing process. This process is a tad more complicated than the previously described one and is going to require a certain amount of care. Be sure to cut off any pieces which don't suit with a good razor. Be sure to cover up the rails next so that you will be able to remove the veneers more easily. Replacing the veneers with quality ones will be a huge step towards a better looking kitchen cabinet. After this process will be completed, all you will need to do is to put the doors back on.

As you can see, it is very easy to reface a kitchen cabinet. Even though it may be a bit confusing at first, you will learn that this process does not require any special training or previous in order to be successfully completed. By trying a few times you will eventually get the feel of it and start being more comfortable with the whole process. You will be able to save a good amount of money which can mean a lot during these tough times. A good job will also raise the value of your home by a bit!
